One laid-back hound, one always-busy Border Collie, and two completely different ideas about how a camping trip should go. Happy has mastered slowing down; Dolly is always ready for whatever comes next. The camper would not feel like ours without either of them.

Our senior rescue hound & sofa enthusiast
Sami and I had only been dating for about six months when Happy came into our lives. The shelter caring for him was closing, and we learned that he was first on the list to be euthanized. We could not leave him there, so we agreed to foster Happy and another dog and give them somewhere safe to land.
We thought we were helping Happy until another family came along. It did not take long to realize he had already found his family. Fostering became forever, and he has been beside us through nearly every chapter since.
These days, Happy has camping figured out. He claims the camper sofa, stretches out beside us outdoors, and saves just enough energy to inspect every tree around the campsite. After everything that brought him to us, seeing him completely relaxed and at home is still something special.

Dolly
Our Border Collie, always waiting for a job
Dolly joined our family and quickly made a place of her own. She brought a completely different kind of energy with her—curious, watchful, and always ready to be part of whatever we are doing.
Wherever we are, she wants to be close. Outside, she is usually at our feet watching everyone pass, in a lap when we allow it, or tucked beneath a chair with one eye on the whole campsite. That Border Collie stare is never far away; she always seems to be waiting for us to give her the next job.
If she is not outside with us, she has probably found the comfortable spot on our bed. We even gave her a bed of her own in the little tunnel beneath the bunk, but she still needs the occasional reminder that our bed is not actually hers. She keeps us laughing, keeps watch over her people, and makes every trip feel more like home.
